ART OF WORDS: Poets’ Open Mic

POET JIM MENSON

This event has ended

This monthly event is a great opportunity for adults and young adults to practice performance skills in front of a small audience, receive feedback, and get inspiration for creating new performance pieces.

The suggested theme for this month is “ENDINGS & BEGINNINGS”

Co-hosts Tamell “Big” Bailey and CathyB welcome featured poet Jim Menson to the ACPL! Jim has been reading, writing and loving poetry for 60 years.  He is a member of the Aiken Poets, the Poetry Society of South Carolina, and the Academy of American Poets.  He has been published in the Anthology of Aiken Poets and the Aiken Standard.

Jim spent several years hitchhiking across America, and for a brief time lived on the streets of Phoenix, Arizona. He survived winters in an 1840s farmhouse in Ohio with wood heat and without running water, watched the swells in the Atlantic from a house that his grandfather built, and worked for 37 years as a Computer Scientist.

Jim is currently a resident of Aiken, South Carolina where he has found poetry and the Art of Words flourishing.

Open mic signup begins at 5:30PM on the event day (a 5-minute max performance)
The show starts at 6:00 PM in the first-floor meeting room
