ART OF WORDS: Poets’ Open Mic

This event has ended

Featured performer John Lamprecht has been writing poetry for the last 26 years. A native of NY, he has been living in South Carolina since 2014. Before SC, he lived in Buffalo, NY, where he was a founding member of several groups of poets, most notably Living Poets Society and We, The Notorious Pronouns. He has a passion for the literary arts and a degree in English and History, focusing on creative writing from the University of Buffalo. While in NY, he enjoyed hosting weekly readings and organizing poetry anthologies for local residents.

John’s poetry is a passionate study of the mundane and extraordinary that find their way into everyday life. With a keen eye for detail and a gift for capturing complex emotions in words, he explores themes of love, loss, resilience, and the human experience. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and the world around them, John weaves together captivating narratives that resonate deeply with audiences. Whether performing on stage or sharing his work in written form, John invites listeners on a journey of self-discovery and reflection.

Participants will need to sign up at 5:45 in order to be included in the open mic. This is a great opportunity for adults and young adults to practice performance skills in front of a receptive audience, receive feedback, and get inspiration for creating new performance pieces.
