The Color Purple is the third of five films to be presented between September 2024 and March 2025 as part of the discussion series, LET’S TALK ABOUT IT (LTAI) – SOUTHERN NOVELS ON PAGE AND SCREEN. With discussions led by USC-Aiken humanities scholars, LTAI is more than your average book club! Participants will read, watch, and then compare the novels to their film adaptations.

This 2023 film is based on the novel The Color Purple by Alice Walker. Actors featured include: Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, Halle Bailey, Ciara, H.E.R., David Alan Grier, Deon Cole, Louis Gossett Jr., and Jon Batiste.
