The Grass Harp, a 1951 by New Orleans author Truman Capote, is the fourth of five novels to be presented between September 2024 and March 2025 as part of the discussion series, LET’S TALK ABOUT IT (LTAI) – SOUTHERN NOVELS ON PAGE AND SCREEN. With discussions led by USC-Aiken humanities scholars, LTAI is more than your average book club! Participants read, watch, and then compare the novels to their film adaptations.
“Set on the outskirts of a small Southern town, The Grass Harp tells the tale of three misfits who move into a tree house. As they pass sweet yet hazardous hours in a china tree, The Grass Harp manages to convey all the pleasures and responsibilities of freedom. But most of all it teaches us about the sacredness of love, ‘that love is a chain of love, as nature is a chain of life.'”
Let’s Talk About It (LTAI) is intended for ages 18 and older
