LET’S TALK ABOUT IT (LTAI) SERIES Movie: The Scarlet Letter (R)

The Scarlet Letter is the first of three films to be presented between September and December 2025 as part of the discussion series, LET’S TALK ABOUT IT (LTAI) – Good Book/Bad Movie. It is based on the novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne in which an affair between a young woman and a pastor has disastrous consequences. Directed by Roland Joffe in 1995, the film features actors Demi Moore, Gary Oldman, and Robert Duvall.

With discussions led by USC Aiken Humanities scholars, LTAI is more than your average book club. Participants will read, watch, and then compare the “good” novel to its respective “bad” film adaptation.
