LTAI Movie: The Beach House (G)

Let's Talk About It

The Beach HouseThe Beach House is the fourth and final film to be presented as part of the discussion series, LET’S TALK ABOUT IT — SOUTH CAROLINA WRITERS ON PAGE AND SCREEN (LTAI). Led by a USC-Aiken humanities scholar, LTAI is more than your average book club. Participants will read, watch, and then compare four novels to their film adaptations.

Actors Minka Kelly, Andie MacDowell, Chad Michael Murray, and Makenzie Vega appear as the main characters in this film based on the novel by SC author Mary Alice Monroe. The movie was produced in 2018.

Cara Rutledge thought she had left her Southern roots and troubled family far behind. But an unusual request from her mother, coming just as her own life is spinning out of control, has Cara heading back to the scenic Low country of her childhood summers. Before long, the rhythms of the island open her heart in wonderful ways as she repairs the family beach house, becomes a bona fide ‘turtle lady’ and renews old acquaintances long thought lost.

This program is for adults 18 and older. Books are first come, first served. Call the Reference Desk for more information.
LTAI Movie viewings are in the 1st floor meeting room.
