LTAI Movie: The Great Santini (PG)

This event has ended

The Great Santini is the first of four films to be presented as part of the discussion series, LET’S TALK ABOUT IT — SOUTH CAROLINA WRITERS ON PAGE AND SCREEN (LTAI). Led by a USC-Aiken humanities scholar, LTAI is more than your average book club. Participants will read, watch, and then compare four novels to their film adaptations.

Actors Robert Duvall, Blythe Danner, Michael O’Keefe, and Stan Shaw appear as the main characters in this film based on the autobiographical novel by SC author Pat Conroy. In this movie, originally produced in 1979, a tough career marine, disappointed that he has no war to fight, runs his household like a boot camp to the great distress of his emotionally-torn adolescent son.

This program is for adults 18 and older. Books are first come, first served. Call the Reference Desk for more information.
LTAI Movie viewings are in the 1st floor meeting room.

Made possible by a grant from SC Humanities and funding from the Friends of the Library.
