CLASSIFICATION: Library Page                                    STARTING WAGE: $7.25 / hour

FUNCTION:

While under the supervision of a library staff member, performs clerical and office duties following established methods and procedures. Must exercise independent judgement and be able to organize and complete work. Evening and weekend work is required.  The position is 10-12 hours per week.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for sorting and shelving books and other library materials, checking materials in and out, collecting and recording fines, registering patrons, answering telephones, and filing. Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of computer applications and Internet searching techniques, basic mathematical ability, ability to establish cordial relationships with the public and library staff members, and skill in written and oral communication.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school student in good academic standing or high school graduate. Experience with computers required. Previous employment in a library is desirable.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be physically able to push and pull a loaded book truck and move up to 30 pounds at a time.
